The Arrival of Shri Krishna
As the Mahabharata war was about to commence, Krishna recognized the magnitude of Barbarik's power and the significance of his vow.
Lord Krishna knew that if Barbarik were to enter the battlefield:
• He would invariably side with the losing party;
• He would constantly switch his allegiance;
• And ultimately, Barbarik would be the sole survivor.

How did he receive the name “Shyam”?
After the war had ended, when a dispute arose among the Pandavas regarding who deserved the credit for the victory, Barbareek’s severed head was consulted.
He replied:
👉 “In this war, it was solely the strategy and power of Shri Krishna that were at work.”
Pleased by this, Shri Krishna bestowed a boon upon him:
👉 “In the Kali Yuga, you shall be worshipped by my name—‘Shyam’.”

The Installation of the Head at Khatu
